Solar Power is energy from the sun that is transformed into thermal or electrical energy. As one of the most abundant renewable energy sources available, it is considered to be of great potential in Kosovo as well, highlighted by country’s first solar panel producer and several solar panel installer companies. Modern technology of solar panels harnesses this energy for a variety of uses such as generating electricity, heating water for domestic, commercial, or industrial use and solar powered ventilation.
Biomass casually refers to any organic matter – wood, crops, seaweed, animal wastes that can be used as an energy source. Biomass energy or bioenergy not only gives us a renewable source of energy to heat our homes, power our vehicles and produce electricity, but it helps to greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In Kosovo, there is a wide range of woody biomass that is suitable for conversion to energy, such as fuel wood and forestry residues, residues from the wood industry and processed woody biomass like wood chips, pellets, and briquettes. The industry in Kosovo grasps pellet and briquette producers and wood biomass appliances producers (stoves and boilers).
The term 'energy efficiency' is often used as a shorthand to describe any kind of energy-saving measure. Energy efficiency is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to combat climate change, clean the air we breathe, improve the competitiveness of our businesses, and reduce energy costs for consumers. Important stakeholders in Kosovo in regard to energy efficiency include insulation-material producers, thermal-technical equipment producers focused in cooling-heating and ventilation.
Recycling is the process of extracting and reprocessing materials that otherwise would be considered waste. It reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and combustion facilities. Materials to be recycled be those plastic, paper, glass, and others are either brought to a collection center or picked up from the curbside, then sorted, cleaned, and reprocessed into new materials bound for manufacturing as highlighted in Kosovo with different recycling-profile companies.
Hydropower is electricity generated using the energy of moving water. It's a clean fuel source that is renewable yearly by snow and rainfall. As a source of energy, hydropower is readily available as well given that engineers can control the flow of water through the turbines to produce electricity on demand.
Wind energy is a renewable energy source that obtains electrical energy from harnessing wind with windmills or wind turbines. The turbines help to convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power, and by the use of the generator that mechanical power is converted into electricity.
