Third Green Festival – Green Pavilion
Nov 12, 2018
The third edition of the Green Festival was held during September 19 – 21, 2018, and was organized and co-funded for the third year running by the USAID EMPOWER Private Sector project in partnership with Sida. This year, the Kosovo Manufacturers Club (KMC) joined as a coorganizer of the event. The organization of the future editions of the Green Festival will be handed over to the KMC.
The “green sector” covers a wide range of businesses in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and recycling. It offers substantial opportunities for economic growth and job creation, mostly in business that is entirely domestic. Successful business examples in Kosovo include production of biomass fuel pellets, collection of waste plastic for reprocessing into greenhouse covers, reprocessing of used motor oil, production of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, insulation material production, and manufacturing of energy-efficient doors and windows (in which even the flat glass residual is locally recycled by a third party into decorative wall tiles).
In the Green Pavilion, 38 local companies involved in renewable energy, recycling, and energy efficiency products displayed their products to the public. The Festival tracked around 1,500 visitors throughout the 3 days of the event. Exhibitors reported around 800 “valuable contacts” which are considered those who showed a more in-depth interest and may be potential “hot leads” in the coming period.
In terms of sales, 20 companies declared €2,750,000 in potential new sales deals and €72,702 were reported as actual sales.
